Description
Bridge House is an 18th-century house with a 19th-century wing, located on Bridge Street, Kineton. The main part of the house is constructed of dressed blue lias limestone, refaced with brick, with sections rendered. There is a wing of brick, and the roofs are gabled, covered in old tile and slate, with brick end and cross-axial stacks. The house has a T-shaped plan.
The 2-storey, 2-window gabled wing has a cogged frieze above the ground floor and a top modillioned brick cornice. The entrance on the left has an architrave surrounding a 6-panel door (two fielded, two glazed, two flush), with a small window to the left and a segmental-headed window to the right, both containing 3-light, small-paned casements. The first floor has two windows with similar casements and iron opening mechanisms. A single-storey wing to the right has a plank door and a large window to the return. The end of the projecting 2-storey wing has segmental-headed windows with sills and chamfered reveals on each floor, each with a 2-light, small-paned casement; returns have 3-light casements. The left-hand range is rendered with a modillioned brick cornice; the entrance is accessed via a glazed door, with a window to the left featuring a lintel over a 2-light casement, and a 3-light casement to the right. There's an overlight to a glazed door at the right end, with a 2-light leaded casement above and a 20th-century gabled dormer. A former barn, located at the left end and constructed from stone and brick with a slate roof, has been substantially altered. The interior has not been inspected.
