Description
The Old Presbytery is an 18th-century house located in Buckland. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, with a stone slate and 20th-century tile roof on the left side, and features brick stacks. The building has an L-shaped plan and stands two storeys tall, with a four-window front. The right side has a bay that forms the end wall of the right wing, which is taller than the left wing. A 20th-century flat hood with carved brackets covers a 20th-century door located in the centre bay of the left wing. There are timber lintels over 20th-century casements on the left, and flat stone arches above 8-pane sash windows on the right bay. The gabled left wing is adjacent to the taller right wing, which has a gable facing left and a hipped roof on the right. The gable end stack on the left was rebuilt in the 20th century, and there are two lateral stacks made of 18th-century flared red brick on the right side wall. The right side wall has scattered 20th-century casements. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
