Description

Holly Tree Cottage, South Lawn, and Willow Cottage form a row of three cottages built around 1770-1780. They are constructed from coursed limestone rubble and feature a 20th-century tile roof and 20th-century brick stacks. The cottages are two storeys high and have a seven-window range. There are flat arches made of tooled stone above a 20th-century door on the left and a late 18th-century six-panelled door, two of which are glazed, on the right. Similar arches are found over four first-floor windows and seven ground-floor windows, which include 20th-century two-light casements and three late 18th-century two-light leaded casements. The gabled roof has a gable end stack on the left and three ridge stacks. At the rear, there are similar arches over late 19th-century two-light casements.

Inside, the windows are set in panelled reveals with panelled shutters and moulded architraves. The interiors feature open fireplaces with wood bressumers and a bread oven, one late 18th-century six-panelled door, and a collar-truss roof with butt purlins. Attached to the right gable wall is a one-and-a-half storey stable made of coursed limestone rubble, topped with a half-hipped stone slate roof. This stable has a timber lintel over a plank loft door and a flat stone arch over a 20th-century casement window at the front gable. The right side of the stable features a flat stone arch over a plank stable door and a timber lintel over double doors with strap hinges leading to the coachhouse.
