Description
Shoals is a house dated to the middle of March 1736. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble and was repointed around 1970. The roof is made of stone slate, and there are brick stacks finished in mid-20th century brick. The house has a two-unit plan and is two storeys high with a three-window range. There are segmental brick arches over a central blocked doorway that features a 20th-century casement. The windows include late 19th-century three-light casements and one 20th-century two-light casement. The roof is gabled with gable end stacks, one of which is external to the right. At the rear, there is an 18th-century two-light horizontal-sliding sash window. A 20th-century porch is located at the rear, and there is a mid-19th century gabled single-storey extension made of limestone rubble with a Welsh slate roof to the right. The interior was remodelled around 1970 but retains some chamfered beams and a three-bay collar-truss roof. The building is included for its group value.
