Description
Lime Tree East and Lime Tree West are two cottages dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. They are constructed of coursed limestone rubble with a thatched roof, featuring brick stacks, except for a stone ridge stack that is finished in brick. The original layout is not clearly defined. The cottages are one storey and have an attic, with a four-window range. There are timber lintels above one 19th-century plank door, one 20th-century door, and 20th-century two-light casements. Additionally, there are 20th-century two- and three-light casements in three half dormers. The gabled roof has two gable end stacks and one ridge stack. At the rear, there is a 19th-century plank door and a two-light leaded casement.
Inside Lime Tree West, there is a complete set of chamfered and stopped beams, a chamfered bressumer over the open fireplace, and winders leading to a straight-flight staircase next to the stack. The roof features a two-bay collar-truss design. The interior of Lime Tree East has not been inspected.
