Description

Wellington Lodge is an 18th-century house that was remodeled with a right wing added around 1850. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a stone slate roof with brick stacks. The building is L-shaped, consisting of two storeys and an attic on the left gable, while the right wing has two storeys. The façade has a four-window range, with a flat stone ashlar arch over a plank door located in the right side wall of a gabled Gothic-style porch, which includes a trefoil-headed light in the front gable wall.

The left gable wall has flat stone arches over two sash windows and a square bay window from around 1850, featuring stone-mullioned chamfered windows. The recessed right wing has flat stone arches above two one-light sashes over the porch and two additional sashes on the right side. The gabled roof has a ridge stack, and the right gable wall includes a gabled square bay window similar to the one on the front left.

At the junction of the rear wall of the right wing and the left wing, there are two adjoining gabled projections with timber lintels over a sash window, a 19th-century casement with bordered lights, a 20th-century door, and casements. The left side wall of the 18th-century left wing faces the road and has a seven-window range with flat stone arches over four first-floor leaded casements, a mid-19th-century sash, a fixed casement, two 20th-century casements, blocked window openings, and a 20th-century plank door. The mid-19th-century square bay features wood-mullioned chamfered windows.

Inside, there is a straight-flight staircase with a wreathed handrail opposite the porch. The rooms have been converted for use as student accommodation for Buckland College. The building is included for its group value.
