Description

Mill Farm House is an 18th-century farmhouse with a rear wing dating from an earlier period. The main part of the house is built of whitewashed brick, with a west gable constructed of flint and limestone blocks. It has a steeply-pitched roof covered in single-roll clay tiles. The house is two storeys high, arranged in a T-shaped plan. The north-facing facade has four first-floor sash windows with glazing bars and architraves. On the ground floor, there is one sash window with glazing bars and sidelights within a segmental-headed opening, and one two-light casement window. The doorway, opposite a chimney stack, has a pilastered door surround and a dentilled cornice with a key block. It features a four-panelled door with a rectangular fanlight above. The gables are parapeted with moulded eaves that overhang. A chimney stack is located at the east gable. At the west gable, there is a lower, two-storey hipped granary and cart lodge, with the upper storey weather-boarded on the west side. The rear wing is of whitewashed brick and flint. An entrance door is situated in an angle, next to a blocked oval ground-floor window. The rear wing incorporates sashes and casements, and has a parapeted south gable with an internal chimney stack and a lean-to addition.
