ALCESTER ALCESTER HEATH SPOSNE (West side) 2/8 Barn and attached shelter approx. 40m. N of farmhouse at Alcester Lodge Farm

Barn and attached shelter sheds. C16, with C17 extension and shelter sheds attached at right angles. Timber framed: Close studding; addition of square framing and diagonal braces. Brick infill, some lath and plaster, and weatherboarding. Brick and lias plinth. C20 tile roof. L-plan. Single storey; 4-bays with 2-bay addition. Second bay from right has barn doors. 3 stable doors on left. Left half wholly weatherboarded. Right return side has exposed farming with jowled posts. To rear: Exposed framing, third bay has some close studding with lath and plaster. Fourth and fifth bays weatherboarded. Sixth bay rebuilt in brick. Interior: Jowled posts. Retaining walls and diagonal braces. Close studded gabled wall, now opened up. C16 part has 3 queen post roof trusses with clasped purlins and wind braces. Addition has queen strut truss. Later partitions and floors inserted. 4-bay range of shelter sheds attached at right angles have square framed back wall with brick infill, and C19 brick pillars. Tile roof. Trenched purlin roof.
