Description
Rose Cottage is a 17th-century cottage located on the east side of Birmingham Road in King's Coughton. It features a timber frame with lath and plaster and whitewashed brick infill, with some parts underbuilt in brick that has painted sham framing. The cottage has a thatched half-hipped roof and a brick ridge stack with square shafts. A late 20th-century porch made of whitewashed brick and topped with a tile roof has been added. The building has a two-unit plan with 20th-century additions, stands one storey high with an attic, and has a two-window range. The windows are 19th-century wood and iron casements, some with glazing bars or leaded lights, and the attic includes swept dormers. The left return side displays exposed framing with substantial timbers, jowled posts, and diagonal braces, featuring a window on each floor. There are also additions to the right and rear of the cottage. The interior has not been inspected.
