Description

The farmhouse and attached farm buildings date back to the 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the 18th and early 19th centuries, and further changes in the early to mid-19th century. The house is partly timber framed, faced with brick, and has a brick front range. Brick dentil cornices are visible externally. The front range has a slate roof, while a wing has a tile roof, with brick stacks throughout. The barn is timber framed with brick infill and a tile roof.

The house is in an L-shape, with a front range of two builds. The front facade is two storeys high with a three-window range. It features a six-panelled door with a panelled intrados and a moulded wood surround, as well as an arched trellis porch. Sashes are present throughout, with a single sixteen-pane sash to the left of the ground floor having a rendered, rusticated flat arch with keyblocks. First-floor sashes have painted wood lintels. The roof is hipped with an internal stack, and continues down on the right. The return side has a three-window range, with a left section of two storeys and a one-window range, and a right section of one storey and an attic with dormers and diagonally set brick dentils. A 19th-century plank door and wood and iron casements with glazing bars are also present. Two 18th or early 19th-century leaded casements are on the ground floor, beneath cambered brick arches.

Inside the rear wing, there is some exposed timber framing and an open fireplace. The front range has a straight flight staircase and six-panelled doors. The barn has square framing over three bays, with plank doors; a doorway on the yard side may have been altered. End wall features jowled posts. Internally there are jowled posts, diagonal braces, retaining walls, and a queen strut roof. 18th or 19th-century shelter sheds, with brick construction including brick dentil cornices, brick pillars with plank infill to the front, and a tile roof, are attached at right angles. These sheds retain hay racks.
