Description
This barn, approximately 100 metres southwest of New End Farmhouse, dates to the 17th and 18th centuries. It is timber-framed with square framing and tension braces, featuring brick infill. The roof is tiled and there are five bays. A wide plank door is present in the second bay from the left, although the fourth bay doorway lacks its original doors. Three small, fixed light windows have been inserted into the framing. The return sides have jowled posts. The right return side has been underbuilt with brickwork dating to the 19th or 20th century. At the rear of the barn, doors are missing from the second bay, and small plank doors have been inserted into a blocked doorway in the fourth bay, with five small windows also present. Inside, the barn features jowled posts and a queen strut roof. A floor and partition have been inserted into two bays, but this has not impacted the structural integrity of the building.
