Description
The Mother Huff Cap Inn is an early 18th-century public house located in Great Alne. It is constructed of whitewashed brick and features a brick string course band and a dentil cornice. The building has a hipped tile roof with 20th-century brick stacks and is designed in an L-shape, consisting of two storeys and an attic with a four-window range. The central entrance includes a 20th-century door, and the ground floor is partially extended on the right side. The windows on the ground floor are mid-20th-century cross windows with glazing bars, while the right-hand window on the first floor is partially blocked. All openings are topped with cambered brick arches, and there are three dormers with mid-20th-century casements. The left return side has a one-window range. A single-storey range from the 19th century has been added to the right return side. Inside, there is an open fireplace made of lias and ceiling beams. The rear of the building has undergone mid to late 20th-century additions and alterations, which incorporated outbuildings.
