Description

The Manor House is a manor house dating from the 17th century, with additions and alterations made in the 18th and early 19th centuries. It is constructed of timber framing with whitewashed brick infill, and whitewashed brick with a brick dentil cornice. The roof is tiled, featuring a regular coursed lias external stack and brick ridge stacks. The building has a complex plan, extending over two and three storeys and originally featuring a four-window range. The front elevation is also complex. A three-storey, two-window range on the right incorporates a 20th-century brick porch with a ribbed door to the left side. It has a two-light casement with glazing bars to the front, and a Gothic four-centred arched casement to the right. Inside the porch is a 20th-century half-glazed door and the original Gothic fanlight. To the right is a 20th-century French window within a four-centred arch. The upper floors have two- and three-light casements, those on the first floor set within brick segmental arches. A timber-framed cross wing to the left has a two-storey canted bay window with a moulded wood cornice, and Gothic four-centred arched casements to the front only. The left return side displays a large external stack. Set back is a further two-storey, one-window range from the early 19th century. The right return side contains two Gothic windows on the ground floor. The rear features a cross wing with some exposed framing and jowled posts. The interior has not been inspected.
