Description
The granary, located approximately 10 meters west of Forshaw Park Farmhouse, is a structure dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It was originally used for storing grain and has since been converted into a loft and garage. The building is timber-framed, featuring reddish brick nogging and a gabled roof covered with plain tiles.
The exterior consists of three bays of square-panel framing, which is supported by 19th-century brick piers and a rear wall. The ground floor has been covered with 20th-century weatherboarding. At the left end of the granary, there are double doors and 19th-century brick steps leading to two dog kennels located beneath. Above these steps, there is a plank door.
Inside, the granary features a three-bay double-trenched-purlin roof with interrupted tie-beam trusses and retains some remains of grain bins. This granary forms a group with Forshaw Park Farmhouse and the attached barn.
