Granary About One Yard North Of Bordesley Lodge Farmhouse

The granary, located about one yard north of Bordesley Lodge Farmhouse, dates from the early 17th century and has undergone alterations in the mid-19th and mid-20th centuries. It features a timber frame with brick infill, a plinth, and replacement walling, topped with a plain tiled roof. The structure is L-shaped, comprising two framed bays aligned north-east to south-west, with a single-bay wing at the rear of the south-westernmost bay. It has two levels and the framing consists of two and three panels from the sill to the wall-plate, with some short straight braces in the upper corners, though no original trusses are visible.

On the main south-east elevation, external rebuilt steps lead up to a central loft door, which is set within an archway that has a cambered head. This archway also features a three-light window, and to the right of it is a small kennel hole with a cambered head. To the left of the steps is a lean-to addition that has a rectangular opening and a south-east return, which adjoins the north-westernmost bay of Bordesley Lodge Farmhouse at the rear. Inside, the roof includes intermediate collar and tie-beam trusses with raking struts. The rear wing has been largely rebuilt. The granary is prominently situated near Bordesley Lodge Farmhouse and is included for its group value.
