Description
The Birches is a house located in Tanworth-in-Arden, with a rear range dating from the 17th century and a front section likely built in 1757, as indicated by a date on a beam. The building features a brick structure with a painted pebbledash facade and a timber-framed brick range at the rear. It has a gabled roof covered with renewed tiles, brick end stacks with cornices, and a 17th-century stack at the rear.
The exterior is two storeys high with a two-window range. The left rear range is one-and-a-half storeys with an additional outshut. The entrance features a central part-glazed four-panel door, and the windows are 6/6 sashes throughout. Inside, the rear range displays extensive exposed panels of square framing, along with chamfered beams, moulded cornices, and six-panel doors in the front part. There is also a plank dividing wall on the first floor. The Birches forms a group with No. 6 nearby.
