Description
Dairy House, also known as Dairy House Farmhouse Hockley Heath, is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates from the late 16th century to early 17th century, with later additions and alterations, including extensions to the right and rear in the early 20th century. The building is timber-framed with painted plaster infill and features a renewed gabled tile roof.
The main range is one-and-a-half storeys high, with two upper-stage windows and a two-window range to the right. The entrance is off-centre to the right, featuring a part-glazed door within a 20th-century porch that has a four-panel door inside. The windows are casements with glazing bars, and the upper floor window on the left is made of metal. The upper floor displays small square framing with diagonal braces and close-studding. There is a ridge stack and a stack at the left end.
Inside, the house features an inglenook fireplace with a bressumer beam, chamfered beams with chamfered stops, and exposed rafters. The partition wall has close-studding, and there is a board door with an HL-hinge. The kitchen range is inscribed with "Favourite Cooking Range. S Smith & Sons Ltd Smethwick."
