Description

Kemps Green Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with later additions and alterations, including a refronting in the 18th century and a range added in the late 19th or early 20th century to the left. The building is timber-framed with reddish-brown brick facades, while the left range features Flemish bond brickwork with grey brick dressings, topped by a plain-tile roof. It has an L-shaped plan.

The exterior is single-storey with an attic and has a two-window range. The ground floor includes a casement window with glazing bars and wooden mullions and transoms to the left, French windows with glazing bars, and a tripartite casement window with wooden mullions and glazing bars set under an elliptical arch. On the upper floor, there is a casement window in the gable-end to the left with a wooden mullion and transom and glazing bars, and an attic dormer with a casement window featuring glazing bars. The windows on the left range have grey brick quoins and hoodmoulds. The right end has ridge and rear stacks with cornices, and there is a catslide roof to the rear.

Inside, the original rear wall shows close-studding, which is now whitewashed and concealed by an outshut. The interior partition walls have small square timber-framing with arched braces in the right part. There are exposed wall plates and purlins, along with four-panel doors and plank doors. The beams are chamfered with ogee stops. The farmhouse forms a group with Kemps Green Farm Cottage.
