Description
This is a dovecote located approximately 20 meters east of Millards House, dating from the 17th century with later alterations. It is constructed from regularly coursed limestone rubble, featuring brick repairs and gables in Flemish stretcher bond. The roof is covered with old tiles and has ashlar-coped gables, and the building has a square plan.
On the west elevation, there is a small opening above a plank door with a timber lintel. The left side has an entrance with brick reveals and a timber lintel over another plank door, along with a small patch of ironstone. The gable on this side has a blocked segmental-headed window, and the right side also features a blocked window. The rear has 18th-century brick patching and an entrance with a split stable door. The ridge has a rebuilt louvre.
Inside, the dovecote has walls and gables lined with nesting recesses and stone ledges. It features a heavy tie beam truss with raking struts and double purlins.
