Description

Tithe Farmhouse is a former farmhouse, now a house, dating from the 17th century with alterations from the 18th century. It features a timber frame with brick infill and brick refronting, topped by a tile roof that has a brick end stack and an axial stack to the right of the center. The building has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys tall with a three-window range.

The exterior includes a top modillioned brick cornice. The entrance, located to the left of center, has a doorcase with reeded pilasters and a bracketed open pediment above a six-flush-panel door, which has two glazed panels. The ground floor features two segmental-headed windows flanking the entrance, both with cross-casements and leaded glazing. The left end has a single-storey hipped bay window with a hipped tile roof, containing a 1:3:1-light casement. The right end has an altered window with a 20th-century casement. On the first floor, there are two windows with leaded cross-casements at the left end and a 20th-century casement at the right end. Above the entrance, there is a fire mark displaying a sheaf and border with the lettering: "FARMERS & GENERAL FIRE & LIFE INSURANCE INSTITUTION."

The right return of the building is brick and features a 20th-century casement on each floor. The rear has three-panel-high square framing with a brick left angle and a gabled wing that includes some later timber framing to the right. This wing has a single-storey extension at the end with an entrance and a two-light leaded casement.

The interior has not been inspected, but it is noted to have a large fireplace with a bressumer in the right end room, likely back-to-back with a similar fireplace.
