Description

Alderminster Lodge is a house built around 1830, designed in the Victorian Tudor style. It features a double-depth plan with a cross-wing on the left and a lower double-depth service wing on the right. The building is made of stuccoed brick and has a tile roof with brick stacks.

The house is two storeys tall with an attic and has a two-window range. The blind end of the cross-wing has a projecting end stack with three square shafts. The deep eaves and bargeboards are adorned with enriched fascia boards. The central entrance includes a gabled porch with an ogival hood above a pointed arch, leading to the inner door. On the ground floor, there is a window with a wooden cross-mullioned frame featuring paired margin-light sashes with four-centred heads. The first floor has two similar windows, and there is a two-light attic window. A conservatory is attached to the cross-wing. The service range has simpler windows with paired sashes.

The left return of the building has a gable on the right with windows similar to those on the front and a lateral stack on the left. At the rear, the cross-wing projects to the right, showcasing a canted bay window and a three-light window to the left, with cross-mullioned windows above.

The lodge is situated in an important location by the Church of St Mary and Holy Cross and on the bank of the River Stour.
