Description

This is a 17th-century dovecote located to the north-west of Millmans Farmhouse. Constructed of random rubble marlstone, it has a plain tile roof. The dovecote is two-storey in height, with a main roof running east to west and featuring gables on the north and south sides. There are seven rows of pigeon holes with perches in the apex of each gable, except for the north gable. A single window opening is present in each gable on the upper floor, all now blocked, except for the south-facing opening which contains a three-light timber mullioned frame with iron bars. An off-centre doorway with a plank door and a further opening to the left are located on the south side, both originally with timber lintels. A blocked doorway is situated on the west side. A north-side doorway provides access to a modern garage, which is not considered to be of special interest. Attached sheds to the east are also of no particular interest. Inside, a large internal fireplace is present in the west wall. The dovecote forms part of a group with Millmans Farmhouse.
