Description

Fairfield is a detached house located in North Nibley, dating from the late 17th century and refronted around 1830. The building features roughcast render on random rubble limestone, with ashlar chimneys and a stone slate roof. It is two storeys high with an attic and has a two-storey rear wing that forms an L-shape, including a staircase projection at the angle.

The front of the house has a four-window arrangement, featuring a mix of 12 and 16-pane sash windows. The 16-pane sashes are positioned to the right of an off-centre doorway, which has a plain beaded surround and a moulded cornice. The entrance includes a six-panel fielded door with Gothick glazing bars above in a rectangular light. Plain pilaster strips are present at both ends of the facade, and there is a moulded stone parapet cornice. The roof has four hipped attic dormers with leaded casements, and ridge-mounted chimneys with plain caps and skirts are located at the gable ends of the front range.

At the rear, the wing projects to the right and features a projecting gable end chimney stack. There is a single 12-pane sash window on the upper floor of the wing, and another 12-pane sash window in the staircase projection, which has a catslide roof. The rear of the main range includes a continuous single-storey lean-to and a single hipped attic roof dormer. Additionally, there is an attached single-storey outbuilding at the north-west end. The interior has not been inspected.
