Description
This is a detached barn located to the southwest of Southend Farmhouse, dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of random rubble limestone and features a stone slate roof. The barn has seven bays and a central porch on the west side. The west side includes a central porch with a roughcast rendered gable above the doorway, which has a timber lintel and plank barn doors. There is a blocked opening to the left and another blocked opening to the right, which is beyond two raking brick buttresses.
On the south end, there is a central rubble offset buttress with stone slate weatherings. The north end has a blocked opening and a restored brick and stone slate apex vent in the gable. The east side features a central doorway with a timber lintel and plank door, along with a 20th-century garage door inserted to the right. Inside, the barn has a seven-bay collar and tie-beam truss roof with two rows of purlins. This barn is part of a group with Southend Farmhouse.
