Description
NORTH NIBLEY B4060 side) ST 7495 (east side) 10/90 Southend Farmhouse GV II
Detached farmhouse. C17, extensively rebuilt c1800. Roughcast front, random rubble marlstone and limestone to sides and rear; brick chimneys on stone bases; stone slate to front roof slope, replacement tile to rear. Two-storey with attic; rear outshut and single-storey with attic rear wing form L-plan. Front: 5-window fenestration, 12-pane sashes; central doorway with moulded flat porch hood on shaped brackets; 6-panel fielded door with rectangular light over. Front elevation covered with creeper at time of survey (September 1985). Brick gable end chimneys. South end: single off-centre small-paned casement to ground and upper floor of main range; 2 casements to attic. Wing to right in rubble marlstone with mixed casement fenestration including 3 small-paned attic casements in gabled roof dormers. Brick ridge- mounted chimney at each end of wing. Rear: painted random rubble walls with scattered casement fenestration, all with timber lintels. Interior has late C17 staircase with turned balusters. Forms part of group with barn to south west (q.v.).
