Description
Mill Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse dating from the mid to late 17th century, with a 20th-century addition. It is constructed of random rubble that mixes limestone and marlstone, featuring artificial stone chimneys and a stone slate roof. The building is two-storey with an attic and has a single-storey wing with an attic at the rear.
The north-west front has four windows with casements, along with two attic casements in large attic gables. All casements have timber lintels, some of which were replaced in the 20th century. On the south-west side, there is a gable end to the left with an off-centre casement on both the ground and upper floors, and a ground floor doorway that has been blocked and replaced with a 20th-century casement. There is a ridge-mounted chimney at the gable end. The right side features a 20th-century altered wing with scattered fenestration and two gabled roof dormers.
On the north-east side, the gable end to the right has an off-centre doorway and upper floor casements, both with timber lintels, along with 20th-century additions to the left. The rear has two gables, with the right gable featuring an attic casement. Inside, the farmhouse contains close studded timber framed partitions, and one room has an ovolo-moulded beam. A part of a spiral staircase survives in the north-east end of the building. There is also a set of photographs of the farmhouse and other buildings in the National Monuments Record.
