Description
Sugley Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse dating from the mid-to-late 17th century, with alterations made in the late 18th century and an early 20th-century addition to the east end. The farmhouse is constructed of random rubble limestone, with ashlar chimneys, later rebuilt, and a stone slate roof. It is two storeys with an attic, with a lower two-storey section at the west end.
The south front has a two-window arrangement to the main part, featuring timber windows with iron casements and timber lintels. A central doorway has a 20th-century door and a flat porch hood supported by brackets. There are two gabled dormers. The lower part to the left of the south front was originally a stable, and its left-hand gabled doorway has been altered to a casement. Two lean-to additions are visible on the ground floor.
The rear (road) side has one full gable with a rebuilt chimney constructed of artificial stone. Small casements are present to the right, along with a two-light recessed cavetto mullioned window with a hoodmould, and a casement with a timber lintel in what was formerly a doorway. The former stable on the right has been altered to become part of the house, with inserted casements. The 20th-century addition to the left is pebbledashed and incorporates a large projecting gabled porch. An upper floor iron balcony is located at the east end.
The interior has not been inspected. A barn located on the opposite side of the road is separately listed.
