Description

The entrance gateway to the churchyard of the Church of St Martin dates from around 1840 and consists of gates, gate piers, and railings. The piers are made of ashlar limestone and feature wrought iron gates. The main gateway is flanked by a short length of railings, with the outer sections having a convex splay. There are six piers that have plain plinths and hollow moulded caps with stepped coping. The central piers have a domical top and a scrolled overthrow designed to support a lamp. The gates display Gothic ironwork, and the railings are topped with spear points.
