Description
Vine Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse that dates from the early to mid-17th century and was extensively rebuilt around 1700. It is constructed from random and coursed rubble limestone, featuring an ashlar chimney and a stone slate roof. The building is two stories high with an attic and has a single-storey addition at the west end.
The front of the farmhouse has a three-window arrangement, all with three-light cavetto mullioned windows that have leaded iron casements. One of the ground floor windows has been altered by the later addition of a doorway. There are two other doorways with stone lintels, and various 20th-century doors. The eaves are high, and there is a chimney mounted on the ridge.
The west end of the building is roughcast rendered and features a three-light attic casement. The single-storey addition includes a bread oven projection with a small gable. The original line of the gable is still visible on the east end, which also has a small blocked stair-light. There is a flat-roofed addition at the rear that is not of special interest. The interior has not been inspected. There is also a stable and cartshed located to the southeast.
