Description
This is a threshing barn located approximately 20 meters east of Dairy House in Tanworth-in-Arden. It dates from the mid to late 17th century, with a 18th-century range on the left and later repairs, including rebuilding at the right end. The barn is timber-framed with reddish brick nogging and has a gabled plain-tile roof, some of which has been renewed.
The exterior features three bays, with a single-bay lower range to the left. The timber-framing includes square panels with decorative breathers in the nogging. The front has central opposing openings, with split plank doors, while the rear entrance is now blocked with horizontal weatherboarding. The right gable shows exposed timbering and includes a queen-strut collar-and-tie-beam roof truss.
Inside, there is a threshing floor flanked by low walls leading to storage bays, which are surmounted by struts and two queen-strut collar-and-tie-beam rafter roof trusses. Similar roof struts are exposed at the gable end. This barn forms a group with Dairy House and the Stable.
