Description
This building is a threshing barn and stables located approximately 30 metres southeast of The Old Moat House in Tanworth-in-Arden. The barn likely dates from the early 18th century, while the stables to the right were built in the mid-18th century. The barn is timber-framed with pinkish-brown brick nogging, and the stables are also constructed from pinkish-brown brick, both featuring gabled roofs covered with plain tiles.
The exterior of the barn consists of three bays, while the stables have a single bay. The barn showcases large square panels of timber-framing and has central plank doors leading to the threshing floor. Timber-framing is also visible on the gable ends and the rear of the barn.
Inside the barn, cross-posts are present on the threshing floor, and the roof is supported by two collar-and-tie-beam trusses with lower angle struts, along with two tiers of original purlins and a ridge piece. The stable features an opening to the right with remnants of a plank door set under an elliptical arch, and it has a dentilled eaves band. This building forms a group with The Old Moat House.
