Description
Touchwood Cottage, located at 58A High Street in Henley-in-Arden, is an 18th-century house that has undergone extensive alterations in the 20th century. The building is constructed of brick, with the front having been rebuilt in the 20th century. It features a renewed tile roof, which replaced the original slate, and has a brick stack positioned at the rear of the ridge. The house has a two-unit plan and is two storeys high, with a three-window range.
The exterior includes a plat band above the ground floor and a cornice adorned with wide dentils. There are 20th-century doors at each end of the building; the left door is accompanied by a canted bay window with small-paned glazing to the right, both of which are sheltered by a 20th-century hipped pentice. The ground floor also has a segmental-headed window to the right of the center, featuring a 20th-century two-light casement, with similar casements found in the first-floor windows. A straight joint is visible with the return wall at the left end. The rear of the house has a catslide roof and a large 20th-century wing that also features a catslide roof and a gabled dormer.
The cottage is included for its group value with other items on High Street.
