Description
No. 126 High Street is a house in Henley-in-Arden that dates back to the 17th century, with alterations and additions from the 18th century and later. Originally a single dwelling, it has been subdivided into two but has now been restored to its original form. The building features painted brick with some timber framing and has a gabled roof covered with renewed tiles, along with brick stacks at the rear.
The exterior is a single storey plus an attic and has a three-window range. A plat band is visible at the right end. The entrance, located to the right of the center, has a door with three fielded panels. To the left of the entrance, the ground floor projects under a lean-to roof that continues over the entrance and has a hipped end above a small-paned bay window at the right end. There is a wide window in the projection that has a 20th-century small-paned casement. The first floor features tall gabled half-dormers with two-light casements and leaded glazing above wide transoms. Some exposed timber framing can be seen in the center and left of the first floor.
The right return wall appears to have been rebuilt in the 19th century and includes a segmental-headed window with a three-light small-paned casement and an iron opening casement. At the rear, there is a catslide outshut with an exposed end truss and a single-storey gabled wing at the end. The interior has not been inspected.
