Description
Mount View is a house that has been converted into a gallery and offices. It dates from the 18th century and has undergone alterations and additions in the 20th century. The building is constructed of brick laid in Flemish bond and features a gabled roof covered with old tiles, along with brick stacks at the rear. It has a two-unit plan facing the street.
The exterior consists of two storeys plus an attic and includes a four-window range. A top dentilled brick cornice and end pilaster strips enhance the façade. The mid-20th century shop front features two entrances with enriched glazed doors, flanked by a small-paned bow window in the center and similar half-bow windows on either side. There is an entrance to the upper floors at the right end, and a deep fascia above. The first floor has a narrow timber central panel with painted lettering that reads: MOUNT VIEW/ J H STEVENTON/ 1964. The windows on this level are 20th century small-paned cross-casements. There are also two gabled roof dormers, each with two-light small-paned casements that have iron opening casements. The interior has not been inspected.
