Description
Rose Cottage is a cottage located on the south side of Newton Regis Main Road. The left part of the building, originally a separate dwelling, dates back to the 17th century and was refaced or partly rebuilt in the early 19th century. The right part of the cottage is from the early to mid-19th century, with mid to late 20th-century alterations. The left range features a return side of timber framing with whitewashed brick infill, while the front and right parts are made of whitewashed brick. The roofs are covered with plain tiles and there are brick end stacks. The cottage has a two-unit plan, stands one storey and attic high on the left and two storeys on the right, and has a two-window range. The right range includes a brick dentil cornice. There is a 20th-century door on the left and mainly 20th-century two-light casements throughout. The 17th-century range has an eyebrow half-dormer with a two-light casement that includes a horizontal glazing bar. The interior has not been inspected. The cottage is included for its group value.
