Description

Old Hall Farmhouse is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the mid 18th century, with a mid 19th century addition on the right. It is constructed of Flemish bond brick with brick dentil cornices and some regular coursed sandstone. The roofs are covered with plain tiles, and there are brick end, external, and ridge stacks. The building has a complex T-plan, is two storeys with a basement and two storeys with an attic, and features six bays.

The front of the farmhouse is positioned at right angles to the road. The mid 19th century symmetrical three-bay entrance range on the right has late 20th century half-glazed doors and a trellis porch with a nipped roof. The ground floor has two-pane sash windows, while the first floor has three-light casements with glazing bars. All openings are topped with brick cambered arches. The return side facing the road has an external stack. The projecting central range has a parallel roof, and the low ground floor of sandstone features two 19th century two-light casements with brick segmental arches, along with a blocked opening above. The right return side has late 20th century two-light casements with glazing bars and brick segmental arches, with a first floor window inserted in a blocked opening. A moulded stone cornice breaks on either side of a smaller attic window, and there is a blocked gable window and a one-light window in the angle.

To the left, there is a 19th century one-storey range with a three-light horizontal sash window with folding shutters. A two-bay range set back on the left has a stone basement, a string course, and rusticated alternating quoins. The basement features a central plank door and two-light chamfered mullioned windows. The ground floor has window openings with segmental arches, while the first floor openings are blocked.

The interior is noted for having chamfered beams.
