Description
Apple Tree Cottage is a cottage dating from the early 17th century. It features a timber frame with lath and plaster and whitewashed brick infill, while the right half is largely built in brick. The cottage has a tile roof and a brick ridge stack. It has a two-unit plan, stands two storeys high, and has a two-window range with 19th-century casements that include glazing bars. The entrance has a half-glazed door located in a single-storey 20th-century wing that is at right angles to the main structure. The right return side displays some exposed framing with a jowled post. Inside, there is exposed framing, broad-chamfered ceiling beams, and two open fireplaces that are back-to-back. There are also 20th-century additions to the side and rear of the cottage.
