Description
The Laurels is a cottage dating from the 18th century, located on the east side of The Green in Aston Cantlow. It is constructed of regularly coursed lias stone with quoins and features a brick dentil cornice. The roof is tiled, with brick stacks at the ridge and ends. The building has a two-unit outshut plan and stands two storeys tall with an attic, displaying a two-window range.
The entrance, located on the right side, features a mid to late 19th-century porch made of lias, timber, and glass, complete with turned balusters and a half-glazed door on the left return side. A central window in what was once a doorway has a cambered stone lintel. To the left, there is a small 19th or 20th-century bay window topped with a gable. The ground floor windows are fitted with leaded lights, while the first floor has older casement windows with glazing bars and stone lintels. At the rear, the attic includes 19th-century flat-roofed dormers, and there is a 19th-century addition. A 20th-century addition is present on the left side. The interior has not been inspected.
