Description

This is a canal milepost dated 1820, made of cast iron and standing approximately 800mm high. It is set on a circular shaft with a convex rectangular display at the top, which is divided down the center. The left side is inscribed with "ETRURIA/15/MILES" and the right side with "UTTOXETER/15/MILES". The head of the milepost is finished with a dome, and the base features a small quatrefoil inscribed with "R & D/STONE/1820".
