Description
The bridge at Consall Forge is a canal accommodation bridge built around 1779. It is constructed from coursed dressed and squared stone and features a labelled elliptical arch. The flat-top parapet is set horizontally over the arch and ramps down on both sides, curving concavely to the north. The Caldon Canal, which this bridge serves, was designed to transport limestone from Caldon Low. The canal was initially surveyed by James Brindley, later taken over by Henshaw, and completed by John Rennie around 1801.
