Canal milepost. Dated 1820. Approximately 80 cm high, set on circular shaft with convex rectangular display, top divided centrally and inscribed to left:"ETRURIA/ 14 /MILES "and to right :"UTTOXETER/ 16/ MILES":the head is finished by a dome and the base bears a small quatrefoil inscribed :"R&D/ STONE/ 1820".Dates from the second phase of the Caldon Canal after it was extended to Uttoxeter.
