Description

This canal milepost, dated 1820, is made of cast iron and stands approximately 800mm high. It is set on a circular shaft with a convex rectangular display at the top, which is divided down the center. The left side is inscribed with "UTTOXETER/18/MILES" and the right side with "ETRURIA/12/MILES". The head of the milepost is finished with a dome, and the base features a small quatrefoil inscribed with "R & D/STONE/1820".
