Description
This is a canal milepost dated 1819, made of cast iron. It features a circular shaft that is approximately 900 millimeters high and has a domed top. Below the head, there is a convex plaque that is divided down the center. The left side is inscribed with "SHARDLOW/14/MILES" and the right side with "PRESTON/BROOK/76/MILES." At the base of the shaft, there is a quatrefoil-shaped inscription that reads "R & D/STONE/1819."
