Description

This is a canal milepost from 1819, made of cast iron. It has a circular shape with a curved plate that displays the inscriptions "SHARDLOW 82 MILES" and "PRESTON BROOK 7 MILES" in raised Roman capitals. The post features a raised quatrefoil design with the inscription "R & D STONE 1819."
