Description
The County Education Offices, formerly the County Technical School, were built in 1896 by Bailey and Mc Connal. This three-storey building features red brick with stone dressings and slate roofs, designed in a Renaissance style. The main façade facing Victoria Square has a seven-window range of mullion and transom windows with glazing bars. The central two-light window gables project forward and are adorned with tripartite windows that have pediments on both floors, with additional two-light windows above and curving windows at the corners. The central entrance includes a panelled door, a fanlight, and a stone doorcase with columns that support a curved hood featuring a cartouche. An entablature band runs above the first-floor windows, complemented by string courses. To the right along Earl Street, the building extends with an eleven-window range that showcases similar architectural detailing.
