Description

The Stafford Borough War Memorial is a war memorial built around 1920. It features a figure created by Joseph Whitehead, made from Portland stone ashlar and bronze. The memorial is tall and square, supporting a bronze figure of a soldier in field uniform. The plinth has an inscription on the west face, while the body of the memorial includes angle nook shafts and inscribed names on all sides. The top is stepped and has additional inscriptions along with bronze wreaths. The soldier is depicted standing on a pile of debris, holding a rifle in his left hand, while waving a helmet and cheering.
