Description

Maer Hall Lodge, along with its walls, gate piers, and gates, was likely built around 1860. The lodge is constructed from sandstone ashlar and features stone slate roofs in a Jacobean style. It is a small rectangular building with both gabled and flat-roofed extensions to the east. The lodge has one storey and is adorned with mullioned windows throughout. The main entrance is through a pointed doorway located in a porch that has a moulded and castellated parapet at the north-west corner. The gable ends are shaped and topped with globe finials and coats-of-arms, and there is a canted bay window on the north gable end. The building also has tall lateral stacks.

To the west of the lodge porch are the gate piers and flanking quadrant walls, all made of sandstone ashlar. There are tall inner gate piers for the carriageway, lower flanking piers for pedestrian access, and similar piers at the outer ends of the quadrant walls, which are ramped up to meet them. The gates are ornamental cast iron, typical of the period.
