Lodge, Ashley House

The lodge at Ashley House, built in the later 19th century, is a single-storey, asymmetrical, gabled T-plan structure. It is constructed from stugged, squared, and snecked sandstone, featuring stugged quoins and chamfered reveals, along with a base course.

On the main elevation, the advanced gable is located to the outer right and includes a canted bay window topped with a half-pitched stone roof. There is a blind arrowslit in the gable head. To the left, a recessed two-bay block contains a modern door on the right and a window on the outer left.

At the rear, there is a flat-roofed addition. The lodge has plate glass windows and a grey slate roof with saw-tooth coping along the skews, featuring round moulding at the apex. A facetted ridge stack sits on a pedestal base, with a taller gable head stack above the single-storey addition.

The boundary walls and gatepiers are made of coursed red sandstone with saddleback ashlar coping. The paired ashlar gatepiers have chamfered arrises and moulded, corniced caps, complemented by plain railings.
