Description

Early 19th century. Symmetrical L-plan stable block to W of house. Coursed whinstone with stugged sandstone ashlar margins and dressings. Base course. Broad eaves.

N ELEVATION: 7 symmetrical bays. Tall, corniced centre bay breaking eaves with blocking course; round-headed cart-arch at centre, arch-head now blocked with chevroned wood panelling housing dovecot, 2-leaf wooden door. Ashlar voussoirs. 2 bays flanking, windows to right blind. End bays slightly advanced with blind round-headed windows.

COURT ELEVATION: dovecot on inner side side of arch-head with tiered flight-holes. Segmental arch way to right with small window under eaves directly above. Window to left of arch.

E RANGE: variety of windows and doors. Forestair to outer left.

GATEPIERS: to S, 2-leaf wooden gates with droved sandstone piers.
