Description

Early 19th century. Circular, battlemented garden house, now dovecot. Random rubble whinstone with stugged sandstone dressings and whinstone pinnings. Built into higher ridge of ground at N. Battered base. Main front on S side facing garden wall; narrow door at ground; large pointed arch window above; roll-moulded surround, blocked with rubble whinstone at lower level, wooden flight-holes at centre and boarded at upper level. Boarded door to N with wooden lintel. Stugged sandstone lintel and cill to narrow pointed windows with fixed timber cases.

Sandstone corbel course supports battlemented parapet; sandstone coping. Metal re-inforcing bands around upper level of dovecot and battlement.

INTERIOR: Roofless, rendered interior in fairly poor condition.
